William J. Fredrick

William Joseph Fredrick, 82, of Baldwin, IL; born September 1, 1941 in Belleville, IL, the son of Raymond Fredrick and Orilla (Helfrich) Fredrick-Brendel; died Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Robings Manor in Brighton, IL.

William served in the United States Marine Corps and during his time in the service he was able to travel all over the world.  After leaving the Marine Corps, he became a member of the Cement Mason Local #90, where he worked for Keeley & Sons until retirement.  William didn’t know how to be a retiree.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time with his friends.  William was also an active member of his church.  Over the years, he participated in the Knights of Columbus, calling bingo, teaching Sunday School, and helping at fish fry’s among many other contributions to the church.

William is survived by two daughters – Angela (Jack) Carter, their three children (Andrew, Austin, and Anthony) and Beth Ann (Dr. Joseph) Pelletier, their five children (Emaline, Gwendalyn, Aubrey, Lydeana and Leland); one son – Dean Fredrick; three grandchildren born of the late Dawn Greene – Abbigail Tuey, Gavin Hottenrott and Mason Juenger; one brother – Dennis (Jo) Fredrick; two sisters – Betty Espenschied and Sandra Aye; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter – Dawn Greene; brother – Marty Fredrick; brother-in-law – Harvey Espenschied.

The Visitation for Mr. Fredrick will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Walsh, IL from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.   Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Iuvenis Iheme Officiating.  Committal Services will take place at St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery in Walsh, IL.  Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honor Detail and the Sparta VFW Post #2698 Honor Guard.

    Along with the many activities mentioned in the obit that Bill did for his church, he also sang in the choir at Our Lady of Lourdes for a number of years. We remember him well, and are thankful for his time spent singing bass with Don. Denise & Don Adams
