Wilbert Henry Brenning, 78, of Sparta, IL; born on November 14, 1942 in Sparta, IL the son of Elmer and Mary (Horschmann) Brenning; passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL.

Wilbert worked at Steven Graphics and Spartan Printing as a Pressman. He enjoyed playing Pinochle and hosting BBQ’s with his propane grill. He was an avid Cardinals Fan. Wilbert used to win awards in bowling and was great at pool and billiards.  He was a simple man that enjoyed the little things in life.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Elmer and Mary (Horschmann) Brenning;  wife – Trudy Brenning; brothers – Emitt Brenning and Elmer Brenning, Jr.; sisters –  Lillian Barnes and Laverne Diercks.

Wilbert is survived by five children – Todd Brenning of Belleville, IL, Kim Roehrkasse of O’Fallon, IL, Erica Brenning of O’Fallon, IL, Allen Wittenborn of Sparta, IL, and Autumn (Joseph) Johnson of Blair, IL; eleven grandchildren – Ryan (Jenifer) Haury, Eric Brenning, Austin (Kelsey) Brenning, Ashley (Braden) Watt, Chad (Holly) Roehrkasse, Casey Roehrkasse, Dollie Wittenborn, Qhuinn Wittenborn, Colt Johnson, Maddeline Johnson, and Remington Johnson; six great grandchildren – Kaden Haury, Raelynn Haury, Dylan Roehrkasse, Avery Roehrkasse, Deven Roehrkasse, and Austin Brenning.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.

Family and friends may gather at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 9:00 to 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be held at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL.

Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL is in charge of arrangements
