Wayne R. Winter, 73, of Marissa, IL; born on May 11, 1942 in Belleville, IL; died on November 17, 2015 at St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis, MO.
Wayne was an autoworker, a Teamster, a truck driver and a multi business owner. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother – Russell and Irene, nee Worms, Winter. Father and Mother-in-law – Joseph and Dora, nee Schmidt, Grott. Brothers-in-law – James Martin; Kenneth Ehlers and James Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, nee Grot, Winter whom he married on December 31, 1960. One daughter – Jean Winter of Marissa, IL. Two sons – Jeffrey Winter of Belleville, IL; Russell (Christie) Winter of New Athens, IL. A very special granddaughter – Logan Winter of Marissa, IL. One brother – Albert (Beth) Winter of New Athens, IL. Two sisters – Frances Martin of Bowling Green, KY; Jean (Sonny) Hagel of Lenzburg, IL. Sisters-in-law – Helen Parker of New Athens, IL; Debbie (David) Bargiel of Collinsville, IL; Annette (Ed) Fietsam of Millstadt, IL. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, dear close friends Kathy Wolfe, Megan Gerlach and Jake. Also the loyal customers at the Diner whom he considered his family.
No services will be held.

Very sorry to hear this. I have so many fond memories of growing up across the alley from my cousins. The Shenanigans Wayne and my dad
would get into. I always thought he sounded like elvis, his deep voice, dark hair and robust laugh. I’m glad I got to visit with him when I went to the diner to eat. Forever in my heart Wayne you will remain. I love you. May God cradle you in his loving arms ♡

Wayne was such a wonderful person friend and employer. He had a good heart and a forgiving heart as well. He has helped me and many others in hard times and I’m grateful to have known him, worked for him and had him as a friend all these years. He was love by a lot of people and I’m one of them. He will be missed by everyone he as known. love and miss ya buddy. p.s My mom really missis you to. 🙁
