Wayne Snodgrass

Wayne E. Snodgrass, 79, of Sparta, IL; born on June 17, 1944 in Sparta, IL, the son of Wilmer and Bernadine (Pinkley) Snodgrass; passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Sparta Community Hospital.

Wayne married Donna Phillips but later divorced. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, Wayne loved being outdoors.  He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta.  Wayne worked as a press room supervisor at World Color Press.

He is survived by two daughters – Cyndee (Jerry) Katz of Effingham, IL and Christy Schuette of Collinsville, IL; five grandchildren – Jordan (Amanda) Noll of Clay City, IL, Mitchell (Baylee) Noll of Clay City, IL, Blake Noll of Clay City, IL, Andy (Chanel) Rose of Salem, IL, and Evan (Natalie) Schuette of Breese, IL; five great grandchildren – Karsyn Noll, Kylie Noll, Briar Rose, Baron Rose, and Calvin Noll.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; twin grandsons – Brandon and Kyle Kretzer; sister – Lou Ann Snodgrass.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Father Iuvenis Iheme officiating.  Committal Services will take place at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL.

    Wayne was a classmate and a friend. We both worked morning Globe Democrat paper routes in high school years when his parents had the paper delivery business. We used to finish our routes and get together for a coke at Menke’s ‘66.
