Virginia Mae Coulson, (née Miller) went to be with her Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the Coulterville Care Center.  Virginia was born on October 29, 1919, to Earl and Bernice (Harris) Miller in Marissa, Illinois.  She married William Coulson on February 20, 1937. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1994.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved son William Dennis Coulson on May 24, 2015.  Also preceding her was her great granddaughter, Jamie Marie Coulson and grandson Michael Raban.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Rose Raban and her husband Charles, and her son’s wife, Earlene Coulson of Waterloo, IL.  Virginia’s grandchildren are Dennis (Robin) Coulson of Fletcher, MO, Michael Coulson of Orlando, Fla, Patrick (Elizabeth) Coulson of Stafford, VA, Timothy Coulson of Lodi, Wisconsin, Jon Douglas of Belleville, IL and Kristin Douglas (Stephen Sprouse) of Kansas City, Mo.  She is also survived by seven great grandchildren: Travis Coulson, Ryan (Dawn) Coulson, Carly (Ryan) Newton, Frankie Coulson (Jason Merritt), Eliza Sprouse, Olivia Coulson and Ava Coulson. Great, great grandchildren are Gavin and Lucas Coulson and Kaden Newton.  Virginia also loved many other extended family members.

As an avid reader, she frequented the Marissa public library often.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family as well as church trips to Branson and across the country.  She was an accomplished seamstress with varied sewing skills including making quilts and complicated home decor items. She also enjoyed helping her family and neighbors with alterations and sewing repairs.  Her favorite hobby was collecting dolls and displaying them in clothes that she made.  Everyone who knew her will miss her infectious smile and joy for living.  She was a faithful lifelong member of the Marissa Presbyterian Church.  Her services will be held there on Saturday, April 6 with visitation from noon till 2.  The funeral at 2 with Rev. James Ryan officiating.  Burial will be at Marissa Cemetery.
