Vernon Lee “Strawberry” Edwards, 77, of Marissa, IL; born June 27, 1935 in St. Louis, MO; passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL.
Mr. Edwards was a retired coal mine manager. He currently enjoyed working a Buchheits Farm Supply Store in Sparta, IL. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner.
He is preceded in death by his parents – Kenneth and Veronica, nee Kane, Brothers. 1 son – Alan Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, nee Pickering, Edwards. His children – Pamela (Roy) Wiggins of Galatia, IL; Verna Edwards of Marissa, IL; Lonnie Reeves of Belleville, IL; Pamela Treat of Carrier Mills, IL; Penny Reeves of Kansas City, MO. 8 grandchildren – Andrea; Derick; Casey; Josh; Quade; Christopher; Aaron; Brandon. 1 great-grandchild – Bella. 1 sister- Linda (Louie) Douglas of Harrisburg, IL.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
In accordance with Vernon’s wishes no services will be held.

ReplyBrenda, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. Vernon was such a good to friend to Bill. He was always checking on him and seeing he got to breakfast if he needed a ride. The breakfast “round table” will not be the same. You’re in my prayers.
