Stanley “Stan” V. Triefenbach, 78, of Marissa, IL; born on September 19, 1937, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Born in Belleville, he was a lifelong resident of Marissa and attended high school there and also Missouri Business School in St. Louis, MO. He served in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps in the Washington D.C. area. There he met his future wife, Marilynn nee O’Donnell. They were married on September 3, 1962 in Arlington, VA. Stan was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter Janice (Marc) Maurer of New Athens, IL; son Kevin (Jennifer) Triefenbach of Freeburg, IL. His survived by a brother, Fred Triefenbach of Palm Springs, CA. Grandsons – Robert (Danielle) Smith, Christopher Smith, Spencer Triefenbach and Deric Maurer. Also great granddaughter Madilyn Smith and step great granddaughter Chesney Harvel. Cousins – Kent Vollert, George Vollert and Sandford Triefenbach. Survivors also include sisters-in-law Arleen Carpenter and Lois Woitkowshi of North Carolina and Lynn Koscher of Illinois and brother-in-law William O’Donnell of South Carolina. His parents Harold and Helen, nee Kunze, Triefenbach preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to Marissa First Responders, Marissa Fire Department, Legion Post 172 of Marissa or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Due to his wishes cremation will take place.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
Services: Military Honors will take place at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 3:00pm

ReplyStan was 8 years older and I remember him with deep respect. His service to his country was like the rest of our generation, admirable. His years working in Marissa was tireless and of service to the community. Stan will be missed by his family, his brother, the Marissa community, myself and my family.
