Ruth Ann, nee Bierman, Calvert, 83, of Marissa, IL; born on July 15, 1933 in Steeleville, IL; passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the New Athens Home for the Aged in New Athens, IL.
Mrs. Calvert was a homemaker. She was a member of the Marissa Senior Citizens Center and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a very loving mother and was known for always taking care of people.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Herbert and Alma, nee Joost, Bierman. Her husband William “Smokey” Calvert whom she married on August 10, 1956 in Corinth, MS and who passed away on February 27, 1990.
One sister – Gladys Hartman.
She is survived by her children – Connie (James) Cominsky of St. Louis, MO; Linda (Kenny) Bozeman of The Villages, FL; Paula (Javie) Hoover of New Athens, IL; Becky (Randy) Gregory of Marissa, IL; Janet Calvert of Edwardsville, IL; Jason (Marnie) Calvert of Murrieta, CA; Tim (Donna) Calvert of St. Louis, MO. 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. One sister – Evelyn (Dale) Walker of Marion, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 9:00am to 12:00noon.
Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 12:00noon with Rev. John Lukomski officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held at the Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, IL.

I just learned of her passing and I am so sorry that I was not at the memorial service. Growing up with your family makes my absence even more regrettable.
