Ruby Evelyn, Nee Smith, Vogler, 90, of Mountain View, MO, formerly of Belleville, IL, born October 28, 1926 in Anna, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Mountain View Health Care Center in Mountain View, MO. Mrs. Vogler had worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone Company but later became a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL working as a candy striper and stayed there until her retirement. Ruby was of the Baptist faith attending church at 1st Baptist Church in Freeburg and Belleville, IL She loved to read her Bible, play cards, and go fishing. But her most treasured time was spent with family, especially her very dear sister; Ruth Quirin.
Mrs. Vogler was preceded in death by her parents; John Willard and Edith Marie, nee Sadler, Smith, her husband; Vernon “Buzzy” Vogler, whom she married on May 28, 1949 and who passed away on November 1, 2006, 1 son; Daniel Vernon Vogler, her brother; Herbert L. Smith, 2 sisters; Helen Dintelmann and Laverne Smith, and 1 grandson; Levi James Keller.
Surviving Ruby are her daughter; Sue (Donald) Miller of Summersville, MO, son Edward (Mary) Vogler of Springfield, IL, sister Ruth (Loraine) Quirin of Freeburg, IL, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 7 gr.-great grandchildren.
Memorials in Ruby’s honor may be made to the Anna Veterans Home in Anna, IL.

Funeral: Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL with Pastor Jack Kurrelmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL
