Ruby Smith

Ruby Wilma, nee Darnstaedt, Smith, 87, of Lenzburg, IL, born on July 10, 1928 in New Wells, MO; passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the New Athens Home for the Aged in New Athens, IL.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She also worked for a time at the shoe factory on the assembly line. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens and the Lenzburg Lions Club, Ruby was also lifelong member of the V.F.W., She loved to sing and belonged to the R.S.V.P. Choral Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Ernest and Bertha, nee Fehncke, Darnstaedt. Three husbands – Herb Rehling who passed away on April 20, 1963; Deneen Krupp who passed away on March 28, 1987 and Robert Smith who passed away on November 22, 2011; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by one sister – Mildred (Allan) Schnur of Freeburg, IL. One sister-in-law – Glenda Darnstaedt of Fairview Heights, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Visitation: Friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m..

Funeral: Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Lukomski officiating.

Interment: Burial will be held at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL.

Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby was my husbands Aunt through marriage her to Deneen Krupp. She was a kind woman and was always good to our children. She will be missed.
