Rodney Paul Sauerwein, Jr. 34, of New Athens, IL; born August 4, 1979 in Sparta, IL; passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at his home.
Rodney was a forklift driver with Mid Pallet in New Athens, IL. Rodney was a very loving father and husband and was kind hearted to everyone he knew. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring cars in his spare time. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his loving wife – Rachael, nee Blake, Sauerwein. His children – Alivia Sauerwein; Savanna Sauerwein; Katy Blake. His father – Rodney Sauerwein Sr. of New Athens, IL. His mother – Stacey, nee Friedman, Sauerwein of New York, NY. His sisters – Linda (Junior Rivero) Sauerwein; Brittany (Ryan) Beck; Shannon (Kurt) Daesch; Jessica Sauerwein. Father and Mother-in-law – Roger (Ronna) Blake of New Athens, IL. Sisters-in-law – Rebecca Blake; Renee (Phillip) Eckert. Brother-in-law – Roger Blake, JR. Grandparents – Eleanore Friedman of New York, NY; Glenn (Estelle) Sauerwein of Walsh, IL. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and on Friday, November, 15, 2013 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 1:00pm with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
