Peggy L. Timmons

Mrs. Peggy Lou Timmons, nee Buescher, 75, of Marissa, IL, born October 28, 1947, in Red Bud, IL, passed away on Thursday October 12, 2023, at the Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, IL surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Timmons was the Marissa area “Avon Lady” for 45 years.  She also worked for a time at Siemens Mfg, in New Athens and Freeburg, IL, and at Casey’s General Store in Marissa.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Marissa Historical and Genealogy Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Vernon and Bernice (Osborne) Buescher, her sister – Betty Lou Allison and her beloved husband – Richard E. Timmons, whom she married on July 23, 1965, in Mesa, AZ and who passed away on August 2, 2010. She is survived by her 2 daughters – Lisa (George) Harris of O’Fallon, IL and Christina (Jonathon) Hallberg of Kalamazoo, MI, 3 grandchildren – Amanda (Aaron) Povolish, Alex Harris, Morgan Robinson and 2 great grandchildren – Lillian and Jasper Povolish.

Memorials in Peggy’s honor may be made to the Marissa Food Pantry.

Visitation: 5 – 8 p.m. on Sunday October 15, 2023, and 9 – 11 a.m. on Monday October 16, 2023, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL.

Funeral:  11 a.m. on Monday October 16, 2023, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating.  Burial will follow at Marissa TWP Cemetery in Marissa, IL.

Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.
