Opal June Coke, nee Cathcart, 94, of Coulterville, IL, born April 27, 1927 in Decatur, IL, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday December 12, 2021 from the Coulterville Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Coultervillle, IL.  Mrs. Coke had worked as a custodian at the Crown Shoe Factory in New Athens, IL for 12 years, Wal-Mart for 12 years, and Marissa High School for 9 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clarmin, IL and later attended Winkle Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Aaron and Martha Pearl, nee Ramsey, Cathcart, her loving husband – John Coke, Sr., whom she married on February 17, 1946 in Marissa, IL, and who passed away on July 15, 1978, one son Johnnie Coke, Jr., one son-in-law – Mickeal Quillman Sr., one granddaughter Elisabeth Bradshaw, one great granddaughter Emalyn Quillman, eleven siblings – Stella Shook, Wanda Coke, Evan Cathcart, Eugene Cathcart, Johnnie Cathcart, Mellville Cathcart,  Rick Cathcart, Mathew Cathcart, Charles Cathcart, Robert Cathcart, and Lena Cathcart.

Opal is survived by six children – Lonnie (Judy) Coke of Coulterville, IL, Robert (Cynthia) Coke of Coulterville, IL Trienna Quillman of Sikeston, MO, Susan (Stephen) Bradshaw of Sparta, IL, Sandra Siler (Weston Finks) of Marissa, IL, Gloria Smith (fiancé Randy Gale) of Tilden, IL, one daughter-in-law – Lorraine Coke of Marissa, IL, thirty-two grandchildren, sixty-nine great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren with two more arriving soon.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Visitation: Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday December 16, 2021 and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday December 17, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta, IL

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday December 17, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta, IL with Rev. Jeff Downard officiating.  Interment will follow at Marissa TWP Cemetery in Marissa, IL.

Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.

    Trienna and siblings, I always remember Your mom in the kitchen in your home in Clarimin. She was always smiling and happy. I am so sorry for your loss, I loved your mom and spent a lot of time at your home during our school age years. Please know all of you are in my prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.
