Nancy Ann Bennett, nee Rhodes, 80, of Marissa, IL, born October 17, 1934 in Marissa, IL, passed away Friday August 21, 2015 at her home.

Nancy retired after working many years at the New Athens Home for the Aged. She enjoyed spending her time with family, was an avid reader, meticulous homemaker and wonderful cook.

The strongest branch in this family tree has been broken.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bennett, who she married on October 25, 1952 and preceded her on October 30, 1999 after 47 years of marriage, her parents; Woodrow and Rose (Marler) Rhodes, one sister; Dixie Tatum and six brothers; Bill Rhodes, Jack Rhodes, Jimmy Rhodes, Patrick Rhodes, Michael Rhodes and Kenneth Rhodes.

Nancy is survived by her children; Linda (Ron) Gill of Nashville, IL, Julie (Lonnie) Hurst of Marissa, IL, Lisa (Richard) Hopkins of Enid, OK and Robert (Debbie) Bennett of Smithton, IL. Four grandchildren; Jamie Welborn, Brad Nerone, Megann Williams and Klaire Hopkins; ten great-grandchildren. Six siblings; Karen Mitchell of Marissa, Daniel (Dolly) Rhodes of Marissa, Rick (Dorothy) Rhodes of Coulterville, John (Rhonda) Rhodes of DuQuoin, Virginia (Warren) Holtz of Mt. Vernon and Bonnie (Steve) Holtz of Smithton; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial may be made to the Scleroderma Research Foundation.

Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 9:00am to 11:00am.

Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:00am with Rev. Dennis Hamilton officiating.

Interment: Burial will be held in the Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, IL.
