Michael “Mustang Mike” Spreitler

SPREITLER
Michael “Mustang Mike” Richard Spreitler, 69, of Sparta, IL, born on July 3, 1951 in Red Bud, IL, passed away on November 13, 2020 at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
He was a car guy from the beginning. Mike married Emma Williams on May 17, 2002. They grew up in the same neighborhood and played with cars together when they were kids. He enlisted in the service in his early adult life and served in Vietnam. After returning home, he worked a few jobs and was a very dedicated employee. When he was not at his job he was in the garage working on cars, whether it was auto body work or mechanical work. You can still see cars that he worked on driving around town. When he was not working he would usually watch NASCAR or NHRA, but if the rest of the family was around he would watch M*A*S*H. Some of you may remember him as a major Mustang lover, which he was. For a long time he rode around the calico pony and had a Mustang sign that was hung from his building. He was one that lived by the philosophy, eat – sleep – cars.
He was preceded in death by his father – Kenneth Spreitler.
He is survived by his loving wife – Emma (Williams) Spreitler. Mother – Lucille (Zimmerman) Spreitler. Daughter – Kera (John) Gollahar. Step-children – Michael (Amy) Reese, Timothy Reese, and Michelle Crist. Grandchildren – Dominic Ferimore, Trinity Ferimore, Chelsey Crist, Alysia Crist, Harley Reese, Phillip Reese, and Kassey Reese. Great Grandchildren – Tylan and Sophia Reese. Sisters – Diane Kokoromi and Carol Chupp. Many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, Illinois is in charge of arrangements
