Maedell Diskey, 86, of Sparta, IL; born on May 18, 1933 in Walsh, IL; passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at home.

Maedell worked at the Sparta Community Hospital for over 40 years until she retired. She loved spending time with her family, they meant the world to her. She enjoyed going on trips and shopping.

She was preceded in death by her parents – George and Fredrecka (Hapke) Eggemeyer. Two sisters – Alma Krantz and Marie Kohrs. Two brothers – Albert Eggemeyer and Vernon Eggemeyer. Five brothers-in-law – Orville Krantz, Raymond Kohrs, George Kloth, Wilbert Sternberg and Harry Frazer. One sister-in-law – Fern Frazer.

She is survived by her loving husband – Gene Diskey of Sparta, IL to whom she married on October 20, 1950 in Arkansas. Two children – Kevin (Patricia) Diskey of Walsh, IL and Cindy (Pat) Miller of Sparta, IL. Two grandchildren – Keith (Kelsey) Diskey of Chester, IL and Leah (Randy) Hammonds of Marion, IL. Three great grandchildren – Rynlee Mae Hammonds, Kolton Gene Diskey and Katelynn Marie Diskey. Twin sister – Ardell Kloth of Steeleville, IL. Sister – Alberta Sternberg of Chester, IL. Sister-in-law – Mildred Eggemeyer of Maryville, IL. Many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Zion Cemetery Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Public visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh, IL on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Funeral: Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh, IL on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Harold Weber officiating.

Interment: Burial will be held at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Walsh, IL.
