Lynda Lane, nee Groce, Miller, 75, of Mt. Vernon, IL; born on January 26, 1940 in East St. Louis, IL; passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at her home following a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Miller was a teacher. She taught in the Marissa Unit District 40. Lynda attended Mt. Pleasant Country School and graduated in the top 10 percent of her class from Belleville Township High School class of 1957. She was a gifted musician excelling in both vocals and piano. She greatly enjoyed playing piano and loved to share her music at various locations. Most importantly Lynda lived her life as a faithful Christian and servant of our Lord. She was a longtime member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Belleville, IL where she served as a pianist. Most recently she was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon, IL. Lynda was an avid genealogist and also enjoyed birdwatching. She was a member of the New Athens Grange.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Rayburn and Aldene, nee Lane, Groce. One husband – George B. Sudheimer. Two infant siblings.
She is survived by her husband – Robert Miller Jr. Her children – Karen Ratay – Green of Boonville, MO; Kirk (Kandy) Sudheimer of Wake Forrest, NC. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the 700 Club.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 12:00noon to 1:00pm.
Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 1:00pm with Rev. Rebecca Williams officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held in the Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, IL.

ReplySo sorry to hear of her passing. Biggest problem with getting old is that so many friends pass away before you do. I remember Lynda from the early days at Belleville First Assembly. She loved music and participated in many of the same things that I did. I’m So Sorry for your loss.
