Lonnie E. Schuetz, 82, of Lenzburg, IL, born July 3, 1941, in Okawville, IL, passed away on Monday September 4, 2023, at his home with family around him.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He was also devoted to God and was a born-again Christian. Lonnie served in the US Army as a paratrooper.  He worked as an over-the-road truck driver. After retiring from there he worked for Gateway FS, Inc in Venedy, IL

He was preceded in death by his parents – Elmer and Wilma (Riechmann) Schuetz, one brother – Bobby Schuetz, one sister – Carol Schuetz, two sisters-in-law and by six brothers-in-law.

God blessed Lonnie with his wife of 60 years – the former Estella Schuster, whom he married on August 10, 1963, in Lenzburg, IL, who were then blessed with two sons – Brian and Steve, a grandson – Matthew Schuetz, a granddaughter – Amanda Schuetz.  He is also survived by two sisters – Mary Ann Stegman of Okawville, IL and Dorothy McIntyre of Sparta, IL.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Sparta, IL or to the St. Libory American Legion.

Visitation: friends may visit with family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday September 9, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Sparta, IL.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday September 9, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Sparta, IL with Pastor Tim Gregory officiating.  Interment will follow at Darmstadt Memorial Cemetery in Darmstadt, IL.
