Lila M. Lehnherr, 92, of Sparta, IL; born on June 9, 1930 in Percy, IL; the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (Burnett) Hapke; passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at home.

Lila worked as a secretary for the Sparta School District for over 26 years.  She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta and worked as the Director of Religious Education for 16 years after retiring from the Sparta School District.  Lila was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary and St. Ann’s Altar Society.

She is survived by three children – Mary Ann (Jim) Payne of Cerro Gordo, IL, John Russell (Candice) Lehnherr of Hoschton, GA, and Rhonda (John) Barone of Hilton Head, NC; two grandchildren – Alison (Scott) George of Smyrna, GA and Sean (Britney) Lehnherr of Atlanta, GA; three great grandchildren – Elbie, Zuzu and Avin George all of Smyrna, GA.

Lila was preceded in death by her beloved husband – John Russell Lehnherr and her parents.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Randolph County Humane Society.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. (Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m.).  Memorial Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Dan Jurek officiating.  Committal services will be held at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL immediately following the mass.

Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
