Leroy Faucett, 77, of New Athens, IL; born on October 14, 1941 in Marissa, IL; passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Faucett was a coal miner. He worked for 28 ½ years at three different mines – Freeburg, Eagle and Marissa Mines. He was a proud member of the UMWA. Leroy enjoyed hunting and fishing, most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Leroy was a very generous man and would do anything to help someone.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Roy and Clara, nee Geralds, Faucett. One brother – David Faucett. His father and mother-in-law – Howard and Elvera “Sis”, nee Herzog, Kuehn.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 57 years – Kay, nee Kuehn, Faucett whom he married on November 25, 1961 at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens, IL. His children – Tammy (Bob Macke) Sterthman of New Athens, IL; Jeff (Angie) Faucett of New Athens, IL; Leann (Greg) Parker of New Athens, IL. His grandchildren – Taylor Macke; Lee Faucett; Amanda (Joey) Miester; Nicholas Parker; Samantha Parker. Three great grandchildren; Drake Meister, Alex Faucett and River Faucett, Four step-grandchildren – Greg Dotson; Amanda (Billy) Haynes; Joey (Tracie) Dotson; Sarah Jackson. Fourteen step-great grandchildren. Two step-great great grandchildren. One sister – Hattie Rednour of Marissa, IL. One brother-in-law – John (Alice) Kuehn of New Athens, IL. One sister-in-law – Verla Mae (Butch) Hoffman of New Athens, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 9:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m.
Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL.
