Leo Edward Hill, 86, of Sparta, IL, born on June 6, 1933 in Rice, IL, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
Leo was a member of the Sparta Eagles. He worked at “My Dad’s Place” in Sparta as a bartender, and he worked for Western & Southern Insurance Company as a life insurance agent for 25 years. Leo enjoyed playing pool and poker. He was an avid deer hunter. His family meant the world to him and he loved spending time with them. He was a man with many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife – Shirley (Hamilton) Hill. Parents – June and Alice (Grote) Hill. Daughter – Cody Hill. Granddaughter – Brandy Clements. Brother – Dallas Hill.
Leo is survived by five children – Steve (Connie) Burns of Sparta; Kim (Brian) Cash of Sparta; Angie Deutschmann of Sparta; Curtis Hill of Sparta; Phillip (Kim) Burns of Sparta. Grandchildren – Jarred Kalb of Sparta; Lee Thomas (Vivian) Diercks of Red Bud; Corey Hill of Percy; Seth Hill of Chester; Lyndsey (Quinten) Bryan of Ohio; Jordy Antonellis of Tennessee; Brendon Hill of Ohio; Grace Hill of Ohio; Olivia Burns of Sparta; Phil Burns of Murphysboro; Kalee Brokaw of Sparta; Tara (Jim) Talbert of Coulterville. Great Grandchildren – Jayla Kalb, Emery Kalb, Phoebe Diercks, Auden Bryan, Finn Antonellis, Garret Talbert, Maynard Talbert, Jeppelin Talbert, Devon Talbert, and Karson Brokaw.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 with Pastor Rob Mathis officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL.
Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Leo was always so nice to me when I went to the Garden as a kid with my mom and dad. Such a loss. My thoughts are with my friends Lydnsey, Jordan and the rest of their family today.

To the family of Leo Hill. He was my friend! Leo had a heart of gold. He always had a kind word to say for anyone that he talked to. He treated me and everyone the same.
