You know, there are those people in life that you think they will never leave us. Dr. Fiene was one of those people. Even though he was my physician, he was a friend. He always called me Blarney. He would call that name out anytime he saw me, “Look, there’s Blarney” he would bellow. When he wrote my draft exemption his first draft read, “Recommend you draft this person and send him to a communist country. That way they will find America is not worth fighting for.” He had a great sense of humor. Truly, Dr. Fiene will be missed.

Uncle Larry was a very valued person in my life. I remember him visiting at my parents home when he was a student on the U of I Medical School. He was always fun. When I chose my university he and Aunt Marti took me to dinner to try to convince me that the U of I would be better. He was gracious at my sticking to my decision. I hope his family gets comfort from knowing he was a positive person in so many lives. (I’m a daughter of his sister, Mildred)
