Lavinia L. Chittenden

Lavinia L. Chittenden, nee Rust, 97, of Freeburg, IL, formerly of Clarmin, IL, born October 21, 1923 in St. Louis, MO, entered into rest with Jesus on Friday May 28, 2021 at the Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, IL. Lavinia was a homemaker and worked with her husband at Chittenden Refrigeration. She and her husband participated in several mission projects and later joined the Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief Team. She was an active member of Winkle Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chittenden was preceded in death by her husband, Lenard whom she married August 30, 1946 after a 30-day courtship and who passed away on November 8, 2017, her parents; Charles and Anna Mae (Kraus) Rust, her sisters; her twin Virginia (Bill) Schoolcraft, Ann (George) Manson and Betty (Ron) Slack and her sister-in-law; Loretta (Oliver) Rains.
Lavinia is survived by her four daughters; Lois (Chuck) Sawyer, Carol (Dale) Carter, Rita (Dave) Smith and Betty (Ray) Politsch, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Trails Senior Living in Freeburg, IL for the wonderful care they have provided mom and dad. “We’ll never forget your kindness.” Thanks also to the many people who have surrounded her with prayers.
Memorials may be made to the Winkle Baptist Church in Winkle, IL.
Visitation; Friends may join the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL.
Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL with Rev. Jeff Downard officiating. Burial will follow at Marissa TWP Cemetery in Marissa, IL
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.
