Laura Geneva Porter was born on January 13, 1924 in Eden, IL to Robert and Eva Bardo.  She was married in Crown Point, IN to Robert W. Porter who preceded her in death on March 24, 1977.

To this union was born five children, four sons and one daughter; Robert L. Porter, preceded her in death on December 21, 2005. Kenneth M. Porter (Lue) of Springfield, IL, Maurice L. Porter of Springfield, IL, Vincent L. Porter of Springfield, IL, and Lauretta D. Lukes (Dexter) of Sparta, IL.

She gave her life to Christ in 1972 and was a member of the Church of God In Christ Jesus All Nations in Sparta IL.  She loved God and served in many capacities in her church and her life long desire was that all be saved.

She left to cherish her children – Joyce Butler (Mitchel) Chicago, IL, Kenneth, Maurice, Vincent and Lauretta. Grandsons – Adam Butler (Yohanna) of Chicago, IL, Courtney Porter of Nashville, TN, Robert L Porter Jr. of Sparta, IL, Keylin Wallace of Sparta, IL, Dexter A. Lukes (Aya) of San Antonio, TX, Richard Lukes (Michelle) Tampa, FL, Andrew Porter Springfield, IL, Aaron Porter of Springfield, IL; Granddaughters – Stephanie Dixon (Steven) of Chicago, IL, Regina Porter of O’Fallon, IL, Yvonne Wilson of Avondale, AZ, Rosa Heintz of Chattanooga, TN, Chantel Porter of Chicago, IL, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  She has one surviving sibling, Alice Bernice Collins of Springfield, IL.

Graveside services will be provided by Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL on Saturday, March 12th, 2022 at 11:00am at Caledonia Cemetery, Mound Road, Sparta, IL 62286.  Respectfully, the family asks that no flowers be extended for the services.
