Larry Stammer Sr.

Larry W. Stammer, Sr., 80, of New Athens, IL, born in Belleville, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 18, 2012.

Mr. Stammer was preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Florence, nee Krauss, Stammer.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mary Josephine, nee Mansini, Stammer; Daughters, Cindy Smith, Lynn Stammer, and Louise Vogt; Sons, Robert (Sandy) Stammer, and Larry (Susan) W. Stammer, Jr., Grandchildren, Shawn Smith, Claudia, James, and Stella Stammer, and Kevin M (Hiedi) Stammer; Great Grandchildren, Chelsea and Jakob Stammer; Sisters, Audrey Joffray and Gloria (Eddie) Wolf; and Brother, Terry (Loretta) Stammer; also numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends.

Larry was a 61-year member of Local 101 Plumbers & Pipefitters. He enjoyed staying busy in his “retirement” by helping those in need, loved to go fishing, and always had a garden. Larry was an excellent cook, and his many talents will be sorely missed. He could do anything, and was a master of all. His integrity and good character was unmatched.

Memorials are encouraged to be made to a Hospice organization of the donor’s choosing.

According to Larry’s wishes, there was a cremation, and no service was to be held.
