Larry D. McBride

Larry Dale McBride, 77, of Marissa, IL, born January 5, 1944 in Tilden, IL, passed away on Friday November 5, 2021 at Red Bud Regional Hospital. Mr. McBride honorably served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Larry was a retired coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers and also Sparta, IL VFW Post 2698. His greatest role was being “Pappy” to his three grandchildren.
Mr. McBride was preceded in death by his parents – Harold O. and Verna (Montgomery) McBride, one brother – Willard McBride and two brothers-in-law – Dick Beckley and Don Etling.
Larry is survived by his loving wife – Sally D. (Weilmuenster) McBride, who he married on September 5, 1964 in Lenzburg, IL, two daughters – Kendra (Alan) Deterding of Red Bud IL and Tressa (Chris) Hill of Belleville, IL, one brother – Bernell (Donna) McBride of Coulterville, IL, two sisters – Helen Beckley of Woodlawn, IL and Judy Etling of Tilden, IL, one sister-in-law – Eris McBride of Tilden, IL, and three grandchildren – Keely Deterding, Aubrey Hill and Brennen Deterding. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Visitation: Friends and family will be gathering from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday November 9, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL.
Funeral: Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday November 10, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL with Rev. Don Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.
