KELLY

Kay Frances Kelly, 76, of Sparta, IL; born on January 28, 1946 in Chester, IL; passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, IL.

Kay was a member at Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church in Eden, IL.  She worked at an answering service from 1964 to 2004.  While working there she watched the telephone communication systems evolve over the years to what they are today.  Kay was always encouraging and comforting to talk to.  She was the biological mother of two, but she was known as mom to many.  She loved to sing, but never in the public setting and had a smile that warmed anyone’s heart.  Kay would make hundreds of cards each month and send them to friends and family for comfort.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents – Aulden and Stella (Schemel) Benson and sister – Sonya Eichert.

She is survived by her loving husband – Chuck Kelly, Jr. of Sparta, IL to whom she married on May 2, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV; two children – Tina Kelly of Kingman, AZ and Paul (Natalie) Kelly of Long Beach, CA; five grandchildren – Paige Garcia, Kelly (Allen) Steinberger, Megan Garcia, Danielle Garcia, and Colin Kelly; five siblings – Keith (Ruth) Benson, Dwayne Benson, Roger (Marilyn) Benson, Cheryl (Alan) Smith, and Karen (Chris) Sutt.

Memorial contributions may be made to Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church in Eden, IL.
