June M., nee Holtman, Nagel, 90, of New Athens, IL; born on June 21, 1924 in Red Bud, IL; passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Mrs. Nagel was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ where she also served in the Women’s Guild. June loved to sew and stitched several pictures for her family. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed assembling puzzles. June had an adventurous spirit and was always ready to travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Pete and Mary, nee Payne, Holtman. Her first husband – Lloyd Schmidt. Her second husband – Milton “Mim” Nagel. One brother and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughters – Marilyn (Dean) Schatte of New Athens, IL; Karen (Rick Miller) Al Bori of New Athens, IL; Judy (Don) Miller of New Athens, IL. Her grandchildren – Naseem; Leila; Mahdi; Anisa; Heather; Jeff; Amber; Daron; Dana; Drew. Her great-grandchildren – Cory; Davin; Derrick; Denae; Dannika; Zach; Alexis; Lidiah; Breanna. One sister – Sally Linze of Waterloo, IL. Also survived by nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or Heartland Hospice.
Visitation: Friends may call at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens, IL on Monday, June 8, 2015 from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Funeral: Services will be held at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens, IL on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11:00am with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held in Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements
