Judy Dianne, nee Greenwood, Huggins, 73 of Marissa, IL; born on January 11, 1944 in DuQuoin, IL; passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017. Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother courageously and bravely completed her journey here on earth and is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior.
Judy was born to Henry and Edith, nee Bauman, Greenwood. On January 24, 1964 she married Norman “Wayne” Huggins. The many years they shared together was blessed with their three children and five grandchildren. Judy is survived by her husband Wayne and their children – Amy (Harold) Melser of Columbia, IL; Lori (Darren) Touchette of Millstadt, IL; Andy (Mary) Huggins of Tamaroa, IL. The apples of her eye her five grandchildren – Andrew; Thomas; Daniel; Sophia Huggins; Jayden Touchette. Also survived by one brother – Lennoth (Harriet) Greenwood of Anabel, MO. One sister – Phyllis Payne of West Frankfort, IL. Sisters-in-law – Joyce (Rev. Ted) Clark of DuQuoin ,IL; Alice Greenwood of Benton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother – Ronnie Greenwood.
Judy was a loving homemaker. She also worked for many years as a clerk/manager of the Marissa Handee Mart. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marissa. Judy served her community from 1983-2014 as an election judge.
Judy was such an amazing and caring person to everyone she met. She made absolute strangers feel like part of the family. Our mom was selfless and has taken care of many without giving a second thought about her own pain and discomfort from her 30 year struggle with her disease. If you needed anything, she would without complaint volunteer to help. Mom was a perfect example of selflessness even to the end where she was considered a favorite of all her caregivers and never let them leave her room before thanking them. Our mom cherished the title “Mom” with all of her heart, only to be topped by the wonderful title of “Grandma”. She was everything to us and we were her whole life. Anyone who knew her has most definitely seen every picture in her wallet of her family and mostly the grandkids. Her favorite treasures were gifts from her grandkids as well as her “grandma shirts”. She will be sadly missed but her legacy continues to live on in our hearts and all whose lives she has touched over the years.

ReplyTo Uncle Wayne, Amy, Lori, Andy and your spouses and your children – I was shocked and saddened to hear of Aunt Judy’s passing. You all have been in our thoughts and prayers every day since we got the news. We rejoice in the fact that she knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior and in the promise that we will one day see her again when we complete our earthly journeys.
