Johnnie Allen Coke, Jr., 70, of Marissa, IL, born December 10, 1946 in Belleville, IL, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL surrounded by family. Johnnie was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He always put others before himself. He was a construction contractor who played in various pool leagues and was an avid gardener. Johnnie loved the St. Louis Cardinals and a strong believer in Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Coke, father-in-law; Thomas Gabriel, brother-in-law Mike Quillman, his grandparents; Lonnie (Nettie) Coke and Aaron (Pearl) Cathcart, his best friend Alfred and many aunts and uncles
Surviving him are his wife of 36 years, Lorraine, nee Gabriel, Coke, of Marissa, his mother; Opal, nee Cathcart, Coke of Clarmin, IL, 7 children; Tanya Powers of Marissa, Jennifer Brown of New Athens, Cindy Hamon of New Athens, Lori Perkins of Marissa, Johnnie Coke, III of Marissa, Tina Womack of Marissa and Bucky Buskirk of Ellis Grove, IL, 4 sisters; Gloria Smith, Trienna Quillman, Susan (Stephen) Bradshaw and Sandra Siler, 2 brothers; Lonnie (Judy) Coke and Robert (Cindy) Coke, 14 grandchildren; Devin, Brendon, Carley, Camden, Ava, Riley, Maci, Darwin, Cassie, Luke, Emilynn, Abigail, Alyssa and Carson, and 2 great granddaughters; Aubriana and Adrianna.
Per Johnnie’s request, anyone wishing to make memorials are to please make them to Childrens Cancer Research.
Visitation; Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL
Funeral; A memorial sevice will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens is charge of arrangements.
