Janice Carol (King) Simmons, 76, of Sparta, IL, born November 19, 1944 in Brownsville, TX, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She retired from her job as a secretary for Russell J. Smith, Inc. in St. Louis, MO. Mrs. Simmons loved her plants and was an avid reader. She loved to spoil her grandchildren most of all.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents – Lloyd and Marjorie Louise (Boyles) King; Husband – David P. Simmons, who passed away on April 28, 1997; Son – Ernie Wyninegar, who passed away on August 5, 2019 and Brother-in-law – Henry Bay.
Janice is survived by her Daughter – Dawn (Marc) Weinhoffer of Sparta, IL; Daughter-in-law – Tawna Wyninegar of Marissa, IL; Sister – Linda Bay of Fredericktown, MO; Granddaughters – Adrianna and Taylor Wyninegar; Niece – Kasey Payne; Nephew – Travis Payne.
Memorials in Mrs. Simmons’ honor may be made to the no kill animal shelter; Puppy Rescue 911, Inc, 615 Ellis Blvd, Ellis Grove, IL 62241.
Visitation: Friends may join the family from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday March 8, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL. Due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions face masks must be worn in the funeral home at all times.
Funeral: Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday March 8, 2021 at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
