James R. Brown, 67, of Marissa, IL, born December 3, 1955, in St. Clair County, IL, passed away on Tuesday June 13, 2023, at St. Ellizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.  He had worked as a farmer and an over-the-road truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Max and Virginia (Smoot) Brown and by a brother – Tom Brown.

James is survived by two sisters – Susan Stubblefield of St. Peter’s, MO and Jane E. Schaeffer of Lenzburg, IL and one brother – John Brown of Chester, IL

Memorials in James’ honor may be made to the Marissa Presbyterian Church or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place with no formal visitation or services being held.

Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.
