Helen R. Fleming
Helen Ruth (Henson) Fleming, nee Gargus, 83, of New Athens, IL, born January 21, 1938, in Paris, TN, passed away on Thursday January 6, 2021, with her family by her side.  Mrs. Fleming retired after 38 years as a secretary at Touchette Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Lloyd and Helen (Beville) Gargus, her first husband – David A. Henson who passed away in 1975 and her second husband – James A. Fleming, who passed away in 2006, two brothers – Frances B. Gargus, who died in the Vietnam War, Richard Gargus and her sister – Robbie Ann Dunham.
Helen is survived by three daughters – Helen (Jeff) Paulson, Margaret (Jeff Tucker) Henson and Davida (Tim) Karban, all of New Athens, IL, five grandchildren – David (Lindsey Abegg) Henson, Brandon Paulson, Justin Elkins, Christopher Karban, Eric Karban, one step granddaughter – Nicole (Robert) Crider, one great grandson – Nolan J. Henson, and two step great grandchildren – Caleb and Chloe Crider.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and by her faithful companion – Trixie.
Memorials in Mrs. Fleming’s honor may be made to Hospice of Southern IL ot to the Belleville Area Humane Society.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes, private family services are to be observed.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
