Harry Lee Doolittle, Jr., 68, of Marissa, IL; born on November 27, 1946 in Springfield, MO; passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Doolittle worked as an assemblyman at the Chrysler Automotive Plant in Fenton, MO for 35 years. He was a member of the United Automobile Workers. He served in the United States Coast Guard and the Air National Guard. Harry loved reading and enjoyed listening to blues music. He liked football and was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Rams.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Harry and Ruth, nee Mayfield, Doolittle, Sr. His loving wife – Juanita, nee Watson, Doolittle whom he married on December 21, 1969 in Granite City, IL and who passed away on July 23, 2014.
He is survived by two sons – Harry (DeAnn) Doolittle III of Belleville, IL; Jimmy Doolittle of Marissa, IL. Three granddaughters – Wendy Doolittle; Megan Doolittle; Ellie Doolittle. Brother-in-law – William (Sharon) Watson of Marissa, IL. One nephew – Jason Watson. One niece – Jill Watson. One great-nephew – Will Watson. One great-niece – Paige Watson.
Memorials may be made to the Marissa Library.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
Funeral: Memorial services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2:00pm with Rev. Rebecca Williams officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held at the Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, IL.

I was in the Air Guard with Harry. So sorry to hear of your loss. I think of Harry everytime we drive by a old work site on Scott A F B. I always enjoyed his smile and he always seemed to have something nice to say about whatever was going on.

Just found out about Harry’s death while in Las Cruces for our 50-year class reunion. I grew up with Harry and always had a soft spot in my heart for him. My parents were good friends with his parents for many years and were in Easttern Star together. I am so sorry for your loss. Harry was such a sweet guy. My sincere condolences to his children and grandchildren.
