    Pam, Brenda, John, and Janice,
Debie and I lost our mom, Mary Ann, in October so can relate to what you are experiencing. Know that we are with you in your sorrow and that memories will guide you through this grieving period.

  2. Candice Hawley says:

I have great memories of Aunt Gloria- especially when (at ten years of age) she made me eat liver! Finally forgave her (fairly recently). At Aunt Janet’s funeral, she showed up wearing two different color shoes. We’ve all done that. But the heals were of different heights! The last time I saw her she was so funny – always made me laugh. Love you, Aunt Gloria.

  3. Laura Bryant says:

Aunt Gloria I love you more than words can say.
I remember all the times I would bring the kids over to visit you and Bob. Growing up seeing you with Mom and Aunt Betty they were so much fun. I know you are all having a Great time now that you are all together. You will always have a special place in my heart.
    I love you, Laura

Living in Tilden, I rode to work with your mom in the late sixties. What a riot that was going and especially coming home as we had to stop by the grocery store every day. She was SO good to me. Lots of good memories.

    In sympathy and prayers

I worked with Gloria at the Sparta News-Plaindealer from August 1984 until October 1985. We had a lot of laughs. It was my first job out of the SIU Carbondale School of Journalism. Gloria and Marge Flanigan were my best pals and were always handing out good motherly advice and kindness. Both attended my wedding in 1993 in Belleville, and it was so nice to see them in attendance. Gloria had the ability to laugh at herself whenever she was doing something in the office that went off the track. She was great with customers, particularly at 4 p.m. each Tuesday when the weekly paper was released and there was a line coming through the front door. Gloria always greeted everyone kindly, asked how they were doing and then followed up the question with one or two more. RIP Gloria. You were one of a kind!

Aunt Gloria was important in my life. She leaves a legacy of remarkable children and grandchildten …

Memories abound of childhood spent with your family in Tilden, the spirit of adventure…and your wonderful, loving mom. As an adult, weekly visits to buy paper for my mom, brightened my day.
