Gary Michael Frech, 73, of New Athens, IL, born February 7, 1950 in Red Bud, IL, passed away on October 26, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL. He had worked for Industrial Roller Company in Smithon, IL and was member of the New Athens Sportsmen’s Club.

Mr. Frech was preceded in death by his parents – Clarence and Violet (Schrag) Frech, his son – Michael Frech and 1 sister – Nancy Stein.

Gary is survived by his daughter – Michelle (Kirk Coughlin)  Wahlig of Freeburg, IL, 2 sisters – Joan Jung and Carol Lee Grohmann, both of Swansea, IL, 7 grandchildren – Sean (Yvonne) Kempfer,, Alicia (Ben Narup) Jones, Ella (Ethan Harris) Birkner, Tori Miller, Tommie (Jon) Hall, Aubrey Frech and Nevaeh Frech and 5 great grandchildren – Liam Kempfer, Piper, Beckett and Journee Jones and Jon Clayton Hall. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Louis Childrens Hospital or to the HSHS Hospice.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday October 30, 2023 and 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday October 31, 2023 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL.

Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday October 31, 2023 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL with Fr. James M. Nall officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL
