Gary Campbell

Gary Wayne Campbell, 63, of New Athens, IL, born December 26, 1948 in Red Bud, IL, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Center in Edwardsville, IL. Mr. Campbell had worked as a coal miner for Peabody Coal Co., for 41 years and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sparta, IL #3059.

He is preceded in death by his mother Bertha, nee Bumann, Campbell.

Gary is survived by his wife Effie, nee Fuqua, Campbell, whom he married on July 3, 1992 in Oakdale, IL; his father and stepmother, Lawrence (Gwen) Campbell of O’Fallon, IL; 3 sons, Brian (Kate McPherson-Hope) Campbell-Hope of St. Louis, MO, Brett (Jennifer) Campbell of Waterloo, IL and Aaron (Chelsea) Campbell of New Athens, IL; 1 daughter, Amanda (Matt) Birkner of Lenzburg, IL; stepson Evan (Jaime Daenzer) Ruffino of Belleville, IL and stepdaughter Erin (Brad) Petchulat of Smithton, IL; 5 grandchildren Isaiah, Jocelyn, Gauge, Gannon and Statler; 3 step-grandchildren, Claire, Olivia and Griffin; 2 brothers, Glen (Pam) Campbell of Sparta, IL and Roger Campbell of Belleville, IL; 1 stepbrother Jeff Schumacher of Springfield, IL and 1 niece and 4 nephews

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged to be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL

Services: Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL with dear family friend Bob Huff officiating. Per Mr. Campbell’s request, cremation was to take place.

Burial: Interment will be held in the Tilden Cemetery in Tilden, IL.

Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
