    I just wanted to send my sympathies to the family. Ethel was a very sweet person-always had a smile on her face when she worked in the cafeteria. Memories live on forever. Deepest sympathy…. Sherry Barber (Kunkelmann)

    To all of Ethel’s family, you have my deepest sympathy. I have so many wonderful memories of coming into the New Athens cafeteria in the mornings to grab a cup of coffee before school, chatting with Ethel and anxiously awaiting for the cinnamon rolls to be iced. I would ask for a small roll and she would smile and give me the biggest one she could find in the pan. She put her heart and soul in her cooking.

    Dear Lew, Mike & Dawn, Mark, Beth and your families;
    When Dave sent me word that Ethel had passed, it was hard to imagine that someone so energetic and vibrant was gone. I still remember going to DuBois to retrieve two little imps from church camp, and later driving to Urbana to pick up two budding musicians from music camp. What fun we had, and what warm memories I have of all the Buettner clan!
