Estelle Roe

Estelle, nee Romager, Roe, 89 of New Athens, IL, born February 5, 1923 in Jasper, AL, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the New Athens Home for the Aged in New Athens. She was a homemaker, a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens and was also a member of St. John’s Quilting Club.

Estelle was preceded in death by her parents – Ivy and Grace, nee Irvin, Romager, 1 sister – Ruth Emling; and 2 brothers –Ivy Romager, Jr. and Grady Romager.

Ms. Roe is survived by her 3 children; Ann Peters of Baldwin, IL, Alan (Alexis) Roe of Webster Groves, MO and Debbie Roe of New Athens, IL; 3 grandchildren- Lisa (Tom) Emling, Doug (Julie) Peters and Michelle (Joe) Gallagher; 6 great grandchildren- Taryn, Dylan, Maddy, Dougie, Cole and Kendall; 1 great-great grandchild – Carter; and 2 sisters; Lois McKenzie of Pana, IL and Elizabeth Gray of Hoover AL

Memorials in Estelle’s honor may be made to the New Athens Ambulance Service or St. John U.C.C. Women’s Guild.

Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens on Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m.

Services: Funeral services will be held at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens, IL on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL

    What a precious gift to have known her. I always made it a point to stop by after i was done doing hair and say hi. No matter how sickly she was she always had a smile for me when i walked in her room. I will miss her but I know she is happier right where she is. God has a beautiful angel.
