Elizabeth Klingeman

Elizabeth Klingeman, 92, of Sparta, IL; born on February 12, 1931 in Sparta, IL, the daughter of Martin and Grace (Bowlby) Herron; passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

Elizabeth graduated from Sparta High School and married the love of her life on September 23, 1949.  Richard and Elizabeth celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1999 and remained together until Richard’s passing on May 25, 2004.  Elizabeth enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the gameshow network on TV.  She ran a laundry service for over 50 years and was a stranger to no one.  Elizabeth had many friends and loved to spend time with her family.  She was a wonderful cook and a devoted mom, grandma and great grandma.

Elizabeth is survived by six children – Linda (Larry) Henderson of Sparta, IL, Steve (Laura) Klingeman of Tilden, IL, Mike (Sharon) Klingeman of Sparta, IL, Judy (Robert) Wade of Daytona Beach, FL, Ed (Debbie) Klingeman of Highland, IL, and David Klingeman of Sparta, IL; ten grandchildren – Rob Henderson, Jason (Kendi) Klingeman, Christopher (Callee) Klingeman, Lisa (Tim) Reynolds, Ryan (Kelli) Klingeman, Amy (Jeremy) White, James (Jessica) Klingeman, Brent (Ashley) Klingeman, Lindsay (Ryne) Juenger, and Nick (Cassidy) Klingeman; numerous great grandchildren; one sister – Betty Clinton of Sparta, IL; other relatives and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years of marriage – Richard Klingeman; parents; four sisters – Alberta Klausing, Vera Jean Herron, Alice Elms, and Juanita Gerlach.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the family or Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta, IL.

The Visitation will be held at Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim McIntyre officiating.  Committal Services will take place at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL.

Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, IL is in charge of arrangements.
