Elizabeth J. Winter

Elizabeth J. Winter

Elizabeth “Betty” Winter, 79, of St. Libory, entered into God’s kingdom the morning of May 1, 2023.

She is preceded by her parents Edmund Range and Hilda Vollert, daughter Darlene Winter, and sisters Lillian Dintelman and Alice Kurtz.

A sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty is survived by her many loved ones: her sister Edna Dintelman; her daughter Cheryl (Gary) Hoff; her grandchildren Danielle (Seth) Vreizelaar, Dylan Hoff, Amber Winter, and Hillary (Brandon) Nelson; and her great-grandchildren Holly, Collette, Kenlee, Greyson, Shawn, Maggie, and Bailey.

Betty dedicated much of her life to building relationships with the people whose lives she touched, even if just for a moment or a meal. She worked for several decades as a server for Chicken’s Restaurant of St. Libory and later Gary’s Restaurant in Freeburg. Betty greeted familiar and new friends alike with her signature boisterous charm—an indomitable force, lighting up the faces of those she served.

No doubt, her sense of service to her friends, family, and community stemmed from her faith. A lifelong worshipper at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, Betty garnered well-deserved love and respect from her fellow parishioners. To her final breath, Betty led her life by the light of her faith.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Parkinson’s Foundation and/or Family Hospice of the Belleville Area.
