Edward K. Juenger

Edward K. Juenger, 87, of New Athens, IL, born March 24, 1935, in St. Libory, IL, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.  Mr. Juenger was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Henry and Ann (Horskoetter) Juenger, five brothers and one sister.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 67 years – the former Deloris J. Floyd, whom he married in 1953 at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL, three children – Valdane (Terri) Juenger, Tess Schlesinger and Arlin Juenger, all of New Athens, IL, four grandchildren – Jeremy (Emily) Juenger, Heather (Brian Jordan) Schlesinger, Andrew (Casey Mayfield) Schlesinger and Trevor (Carrie) Juenger, four great grandchildren – Cole and Clay Juenger, Elise Schlesinger and DeDe Juenger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Mr. Juenger’s honor may be made to Unity Hospice.

Per Edward’s wishes, cremation is to take place with no formal visitation or services.

Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.

      James and I are so very sorry to hear about Uncle Ed’s passing. He was a great man and had a helping heart.
      We’re going to miss seeing him and you Aunt Pete riding by in that pretty red truck. We’ll also miss seeing Uncle Ed buzzing by on his lawnmower. We didn’t have to look, just listen. We knew who it was.
