Edna June Chandler, 84, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away due to COVID-19 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital on Monday, December 14, 2020. She was born on October 16, 1936 in Iron County, MO to Virgil Sr. and Florence Chandler.
Edna worked many years as a retail clerk. She was a giving mother all her life who spent her last several years at an assisted care facility, The Manor of Pinckneyville. There she led a full life attended to faithfully by her brother, Virgil and her daughter, Cookie. She also received visits from her son, Donald. She had regular extended visits at the home of her son, Larry and his wife Robbie.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; Brother, William Michael Chandler; Sisters, Rose Marie Chandler and Betty Bernice Adams.
She is survived by her brother, Virgil Chandler, Jr. of Baldwin, IL; son, Larry Lauterjung of Johnston City, IL; daughter, Carol “Cookie” Rathert of Coulterville, IL (both children of Edna and their deceased father, James Lauterjung); son, Don Wood of Perryville, MO (son of Edna and deceased father, Don Eggemeyer); grandson, Nick Rathert of Chicago, IL (son of Cookie and Bob Rathert); great granddaughter, Jennie Rathert (Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Rathert of Chicago, IL).
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the immediate family will gather for a private graveside service at Baldwin Cemetery in Baldwin, IL officiated by Rev. Randy McGeehon on Monday, December 21, 2020.
