David D. Nuernberger, 67, of Marissa, IL; was born on June 5, 1948 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL to Dolores, nee Germaine, and James Nuernberger of New Athens, IL; passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Dave retired from Nascote, Ind. on June 4, 2010. He was also a coal miner, truck dispatcher and a welder. Dave was a volunteer firefighter both in New Athens and Marissa beginning at 19 years old. He volunteered at Memorial Hospital Auxiliary after retirement. Dave was a huge NASCAR fan and Cardinal fan and sometimes the Rams. He liked fishing with his buddy, Jerry. He loved spending time with friends and family.
Dave lived 13 years with cancer.
What cancer cannot do:
Steal eternal life

Suppress memories
Kill friendships
Cripple love
Corrode faith
Shatter hope
Silence courage
Invade the soul
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores; father, James, step-father, Homer, mother-in-law, Lois, father-in-law, William; sister-in-law, Judy; nephew, Jonathan.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, nee Schneider, Nuernberger whom he married on June 28, 2002 at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens. Four children – Jennifer (Jeremy) Donaldson; Kathy Youngman (Griffin Tripp); Danny (Jennifer) Nuernberger; Matthew (Alicia) Nuernberger. Four step-children – Kelly (Jeff) Rowold; Jim (Chris) Rader; Jared (Naomi) Rader; Keri (Troy) Feldman. Four brothers – Jim (Kay) Nuernberger; Bruce (Nancy) Nuernberger; Bob (Cathy) Bush; Chuck Bush. Two sisters – Dody (Darryl) Hagen; Lisa (Jimmy) Bodendeick. Eleven grandchildren – Chance Nuernberger; Cole Absher; Jacob Rowold; Grace Rowold; Kamryn Rader; Jay Rader; Kendyl Rader; Arek Rader; Lauren Rader; Ryan Feldman; Emersyn Tripp. Also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tilden Presbyterian Church, Heartland Hospice or the Chronic Disease Foundation.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and at Tilden Presbyterian Church in Tilden, IL on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 10:00am to 11:00am.
Funeral: Services will be held at Tilden Presbyterian Church in Tilden, IL on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 11:00am with Rev. Dennis Hamilton officiating.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.

David, I only met you once or twice through the years as your brother is married to my sister Kay, just like your brother Jim, you are so pleasant.
