Darlene F. Hubatchek

Mrs. Darlene F. Hubatchek, 80, of New Athens, Illinois, died at her home on Sunday, April 19th with her loving family at her side.
A daughter of Paul and Catherine Bergen Swafford, she was born in East St. Louis on October 15th, 1939. Darlene married Henry F. Hubatchek on April 16th, 1959, they were married 49 years when Henry died on December 19th, 2008.
Darlene loved to watch Cardinals games, gardening, going to flea markets, yard sales, and being on the beach looking for seashells. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Catherine Swafford nee Bergen, her husband, Henry F. Hubatchek, her two sisters, Cathy Poston, nee Swafford, Marlene Koehler, nee Swafford.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Joseph (Linda) Hubatchek, Nicholas (Mona) Hubatchek, Laura (Hubatchek) Reuss, seven grandchildren Sarah Miller, Joshua Hubatchek (Victoria Eldridge), Ben (Dani) Hubatchek, Julie (Todd) Cowell, Kirsten Reuss (Jordan Laumbattus), Cameron Reuss (Rachel Roscow), Ethan (Diane) Hubatchek, her six great grandchildren Bailey Jones, Kaylee and Jordyn Cowell, Alakaid, Alice and Alexander Maedge, her brother Gerald Swafford and sister Loretta Nesbit nee Swafford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Hospice of Belleville, Illinois.
Due to restrictions that are in place during the coronavirus outbreak a private graveside service will be held. A celebration of Darlene’s life will be held at a later date.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Darlene & I worked together back in the ’70s. She was such a fine lady & her and Hank were fun people to be around. So sorry to hear about her passing. My deepest sympathy to her family.
