Colleen Mae, nee Voelkel, Bogusch, 80, of Lenzburg, IL; born February 8, 1934 in Belleville, IL; passed away on February 28, 2014 at the New Athens Home for the Aged in New Athens, IL. Colleen had worked at the Shoe Factory in Freeburg, Ill., was a bar maid at several places in New Athens, Marissa and Lenzburg, Ill. throughout her years, She has been living in the New Athens Home for The Aged since October 2011 where she met with old and new friends, enjoyed Bingo, Crafting and good times with her visitors. She will be remembered for her gift of giving to others, tasty homemade pies, soup and the best chicken & dumplings, her sense of humor and the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents – Rudolph and Ida, nee Hildebrandt, Voelkel. Her husband – Wesley Bogusch who she married on July 7, 1956 in Lenzburg, IL and who passed away on September 7, 1998.
She is survived by her children – Brenda Myers of New Athens, IL; Paul Bogusch of Lenzburg, IL; Rhonda Pour of Freeburg, IL; Jason Bogusch of New Athens, IL. Her grandchildren – Eric Nitzsche; Jesica Gentry; Michelle Obermeyer; Nichole Pour; Arianna McDaniel. Her great-grandchildren – Makayla Cox; Calista Cox; Kenedy Cox; Vedder Obermeyer; Onyx Obermeyer; Dillon and Nolan Pirtle; One brother – Arnold Voelkel of Lenzburg, IL. One sister – Barbara Williams of New Athens, IL; nieces, nephews and other family. Colleen is also survived by her best friend and partner of 15 years Charlie Wallace of Marissa, IL as well as Charlie’s extended family. Memorials may be made to the family, the American Cancer Society or the New Athens Home for the Aged Activity Fund.
Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Lukomski officiating.
Interment: Burial will be held at Lakeview Memorials Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.

my grandmother, was a very strong, and independent woman. she left marks on me and my family that we will never forget. she basically rasied me when my parents were working. she used to bake me all kinds of cookies and sweets. so much i gained weight. my grandma…she was a character. her, herself, was bigger than life itself. she taught be if u gave up, it was never worth trying for in the first place. she gave me smiles
