Charles Walker

MSG (Ret). Charles Hubert Walker, 63, of New Athens, IL; born January 18, 1951 in Belleville, IL; passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Walker was a retired United States Army Master Sergeant serving for 31 years. He was stationed at several post overseas including Iraq and Bosnia. Mr. Walker also worked for 35 years as a shipping and warehouse clerk for Hubbell-Wiegmann in Freeburg. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt. He was a member of the Millstadt VFW. Charlie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Rams fan. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors and most of all spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father – Almond Walker.

He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia, nee Pauketat, Walker whom he married on October 10, 1970 in Millstadt, IL. His children – Brian (Mary) Walker of Vernon Hills, IL; Jason (Dana) Walker of Colorado Springs, CO; Christine Walker of Jackson, MO. His grandchildren – Madison Walker; Alexander Walker; Jakob Walker; Elizabeth Walker; Katana Carter; Gavin Carter. His mother – Frances, nee Wild, Dickneite of Millstadt, IL. His mother-in-law – Janet Pauketat of Millstadt, IL. One brother – Robert (Ruby) Walker of Mascoutah, IL. Two sisters – Donna (Bernell) Vollmer of New Baden, IL; Nancy (John) Kish of Millstadt, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm (VFW Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home) and on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 9:00am to 10:00am.

Funeral: Services will be held at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10:00am with Rev. Darrell Weber officiating.

Interment: Burial will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
