Charles Dean Thomas, 68, of Lenzburg, IL, born February 27, 1947 in Belleville, IL, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the New Athens Home for the Aged in New Athens, IL. He was a mechanic for Feder Trucking in New Athens. He loved to fish and was known for his artistic ability in drawing. Mr. Thomas also honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Wesley and Freda, nee Mehner, Thomas and 1 brother-in-law; Leonard Lorenz.
Charles is survived by his children; Deana, Ryan and Bruce, 2 brothers; James (Donna) Thomas of Belleville, IL and Richard (Sharon) Thomas of Marissa, Il, 4 sisters; Carol (Leo) Wagner and Gayle (Arnold) Voelkel of Lenzburg, IL, Beverly Lorenz of Watertown, WI and Marian (Darwin) Brooks of Allen, TX., 2 grandchildren; Aiden and Adalynn Reutter. He is also survived by his step-mother; Lucille Thomas of Clearwater Beach, FL and 1 step-sister; Glenda Harris also of Clearwater Beach, FL, 2 aunts and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the New Athens Home for the Aged or the Disabled Veterans of America.
Visitation: Friends may call on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL
Funeral: Services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL with Rev. John Lukomski officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks Nat’l Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
