BRIDGES
Burton R. “Burt” Bridges, 62, of Sparta, IL; born on May 24, 1961 in Casper, WY, the son of Richard and Martha (Crow) Bridges; passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin, IL.
Burt enjoyed large family dinners and events. He loved being out on the water in his boat, whether it was fishing or cruising until the sunset. Some of Burt’s other hobbies included woodworking and caring for his dogs that he loved dearly. Before Burt left us, he wanted to leave a message for the kids: “It’s been a rush and a challenge, two things I really like in life. Love seeing where things go”.
He is survived by his loving wife – Alice (Butcher) Bridges of Sparta, IL to whom he married on May 24, 2007; four children – Alysha Zaragoza of Du Quoin, IL, Nicholas (Jessica) Bridges of Sesser, IL, Heather (Frank) Navarro of Du Quoin, IL, and Shawnee Bridges of Du Quoin, IL; twelve grandchildren – Collin French, Aiden Bechtoltd, Everly Bridges, Avery Bridges, Caleb Justice, Jacob Zaragoza, Paulie Predny, Hayley Predny, Lola Navarro, Adeline Navarro, Roman Wiginton, and Elijah Wiginton; one brother – Joseph Tomlinson of Bulls Head, AZ; one sister – Faye (Wayne Fike) Montgomery of Haysville, KS; three stepchildren – Gene (Lena) bell of Wolf Lake, IL, Robbie Bell of Percy, IL, and Jackie (Mason) Coffey of Ellis Grove, IL; seven step grandchildren – Mark Bell, Kelsey Bell, Breanna Coffey, Zachary Bell, Alyssa Coffey, Derrick Coffey, and Landon Coffey; niece – Mary James; other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will host a Celebration of Life that will be held at a later date.
