Bill Bergner, 93, of Tilden, IL; born on May 12, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA; passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL.
Mr. Bergner spent his career in civil service at Scott Air Force Base. Mr. Bergner was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran serving during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Charles and Amelia, nee Brooks, Bergner. One brother – Bob Bergner. One sister – Louise Cope.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years – Shirley, nee Stevenson, Bergner whom he married on December 4, 1943 in Santa Anna, CA. One son – Bruce (Kitty) Bergner of New Athens, IL. One daughter – Amy (Jim) Malott of Tilden, IL. His grandchildren – Michael (Lynn) Malott of Aviston, IL; Melissa (Matt) Braun of Troy, IL. His great-grandchildren – Henry Braun and Clara Braun.

Memorials may be made to the Tilden Volunteer Fire Department.
Private services are to be held.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, IL is in charge of arrangements.

ReplyMy thoughts and prayers go out to your family, I am very sorry for your loss. Bill and I shared a hospital room together a few years ago and got to know each other pretty well. We took care of each other and shared some of our past military stories. It was an honor and privilege to have known him.
